The clockmaker had but one wish, which was to become at one with the cogs that made his timepieces tick. He took on an apprentice and taught the boy his craft, leaving definite instructions to be carried out at time of death.
When that time came, the boy refused to grieve the passing of his master until the work was done. Bones served as the casing, while dried flesh run through with veins became decoration.
Set inside the piece was the clockmaker’s heart, which pulsed as the cogs did their work, keeping perfect time. The tick-tock rhythm became a beat.

😯🖤 fun ~ made me think of Poe's "tell-tale heart" alla Mike Flanagan
