Lilly hated her life, hated that her parents were always screaming and shouting at one another, using words that Lilly herself was forbidden from ever uttering.
She escaped her world by creating an imaginary life inside her doll house. The interior was pristine, all order and no chaos. The miniature figures inside all got along like one big happy family.
Lilly imagined being part of their world, so she flipped open the front of the house and popped her head inside, shrinking to size to become part of the happy life she craved.
The screaming dissipated inside her porcelain frame.
