I too always try to write strong female charcters to balance the strong male charcters that I write. One correction though-- Olivia Hussey was in Black Christmas instead of Silent Night Deadly Night.
My favorite Final Girl would be Kirsty Cotton from Hellraiser
I thought I was the only one who doesn’t consider Laurie Strode to be a final girl. Yes, she did fight back, but in the end it was dr loomis who got her out of the situation.
Ellen Ripley - 💯!!
Final Girls Support Group is such a fun book. I would also recommend The Indian Lake Trilogy by Stephen Graham Jones.

I love all the final girls on your list. I also love Nightmare on Elm Street's Nancy and Scream's Sidney.
So many great ones to choose from.
I love Ready or Not! And great article! Honestly, Grace and then Erin from You're Next are two of my very favorite modern final girls.
Ripley for sure.

And a lot of people consider her the OG. For me, Ripley made the final girl what it is now.
Have you read Riley Seger's Final Girls? Its a fantastic novel and plays with a lot of these ideas.
I have not. I’ll check it out.
