This was awesome! There's a book on my shelf that I've had since the 90s called Clive Barker's A-Z of Horror. I've read it front to back 100 times, at least. So, when I saw the title of this article, I thought, "Oh yeah, I'm glad I subscribed to this guy!"
Thank you for the book recommendation. That’ll go on my ‘to be read’ pile. Poltergeist was one of the movies that left an indelible mark on me as a kid. The mirror sequence? It gave me nightmares for weeks… that and the pool scene.
I still love that they used actual bodies in that movie because they were cheaper than making props… or maybe that is an urban myth. I’ll have to check.
When did it burn down? What is "weird shot" that started happening in your house? Many issues in your post are unclear. What did Penny know before she should have known it? etc. etc?
That’s probably a typo that should have been shit. It was probably a decade or so ago. I was talking to someone about the ghost tour and was going to send them a picture of the spooky house, which was when I saw that story about it being gone.
I love this A-Z structure! With the right illustration/imagery, it could be a popular coffee-table book.
That would definitely be a fun project.
Haunted house movies/books are my favorite 👻 too!
A psychic wife and a horror writer? Okay, now I know you both are a power couple! 😁 🖤💀
Haunted houses are one of my favourites.
Kill Creek is on my October TBR. I've heard great things about it. I love a good haunted house story.

Excellent. Barker is my favorite author, too.
OMG, biggest influence on the writer that I became. I love Clive so much.

Thanks for writing!
Such a great movie.

I didn’t want to get too deep into it, as it involved kids and was pretty horrific. The house burned down a few years ago now.
Wow, sorry I’m so nosy…
so when did you go with Penny for the tour? What made you look it up when you looked it up? What does “weird shot” mean?
