I love using isolation in horror, it’s a favorite of mine! You can also explore such different storylines. The slasher in the woods works, but so does psychological isolation and many more. And you can really amp up the dread.
Isolation is such an effective horror element because it turns ordinary situations into something deeply unsettling. I like how you focus not only on being physically alone, but on that feeling of being unreachable when something goes wrong.
I think I remember seeing the cover for ‘The Last Shift’ somewhere and thinking… immediate cheese! Now, I’m going to have to find it and give it a look. Thank you!

I thought the same thing. I put it on as a time killer, nothing more. It legitimately freaked me out.
I've never heard of The Last Shift, but now I'm gonna have to go look for it.
The Last Shift was a hidden gem. Really effective invoking feelings of total isolation!!! And of course absolute horror!!!
I love that movie.
