Comic Book Flash: Radio Silence
One family listens in as the world falls silent
The family huddled around the radio, trying to make out the message breaking through the static. The TV had long since stopped showing anything other “Please Stand By” messages, while the power flicked off and on, creating a strobe effect that set everyone on edge.
Brad cast a quick look at his portable generator, which was now showing just 9% power remaining. He knew he should unplug the radio and conserve what they have, but he needed to know what was happening to the world.
It all began a few days prior, with various cities across the world reporting strange craft in the skies. If the government powers had been aware of an impending invasion, no one was letting on. Even in times of panic and terror, it seemed that secrecy prevailed.
“I can rep.rt now that we a.. hea..ng them bang..g on our studio d..r. I’m not su.e how m..h longer .. … stay on a..”
What are they saying, Daddy?” Lilly asked, eyes wide as saucers.
“It’s okay, sweetie,” Brad said, rubbing his daughter’s hand.
They all cringed as another burst of static filled the room, followed by a moment of silence and the clearest message received in days. “They’re already inside.” Once the screaming started, Brad pulled the radio free of the generator and tossed it across the room, watching it splinter into a million pieces as it connected with the wall.
“I’m scared, Daddy,” Lilly sobbed, burying her face against his arm.
The power flickered once more and then went out. A series of ticks and creaks seemed impossibly loud within the house, but not nearly as loud as the sudden pounding on the door.

This strongly reminds me of „War of the Worlds“! 🖤 Really cool oppressive atmosphere!
Seeing it as a comic makes it even creepier!
