Into the caverns the brave men crept, going down into the depths in search of untold treasures. Legend had it that the cave system held hidden gold, rubies, and emeralds from civilizations long dead.
Deeper down they went, their meagre lights making it impossible to see the things that clung to the shadows, probably for the best.
With the light above now nothing more than a pinprick, they reached bottom, finding nothing there but dirt and impending death. The creature there stirred and bared its fangs, the stench of greed making it salivate. There was barely time for agonized screams.
