A different kind of horror. Some of those facilities are nice, now.

Striking images and words as well. I love this idea to share other sides of you as well. That photo of the chair hits me too. I think about how so many of those abandoned asylums were basically torture chambers back in the day, and it breaks my heart.

There was a definite unpleasant vibe to the place.

This might be a stretch but this piece reminds me of China Town, and weirdly, also of The Dark Knight: the idea that, under the right circumstances, even something as simple as being born 30 years earlier, we could all be 'the villain,' we could all be everything we hate or fear in others. Great stuff

You should visit George Town, Penang. We have many, sadly decaying beautiful houses and buildings around the city that make for fascinating photos. Some are now being renovated, which is good news.

I’ve always been drawn to old abandoned buildings. It’s a way of processing feelings about mortality. It always feels like bits of people’s souls are left there. I imagine what the place looked like when it was filled with life, who touched the objects left behind, what thoughts and hopes and dreams they had before the world moved on without them as it will move on without me someday. Someday no one will know I was here and it will be as if all the things that take up space in my life never existed. That’s what I think about when I explore abandoned spaces.

I’m so sorry you are living with a mind that feels broken. I don’t know if you believe it can get better, but I’ll continue to wish it for you.
