It reminds me of a film I like whose character is Nathan Caine - the film is called Novocaine (2025), who has a real condition, Congenital Analgesia. Was this an inspiration for your story? - Only just started reading your story just wondering, I might be totally wrong lol.
I almost canceled this story because of the movie. I watched it and decided to go with it given that they are totally different beasts. While the movie is an action romp, this story is more of a descent into madness. I actually had a reader mention the movie to me after I shared the cover for Nerve Damage, which I will admit, threw me for a loop.
Please don't let it put you off!! I really like your "author voice", and oh my how many vampire or zombie novels / movies are there!! No we definitely need more novels with this premise - I'm certainly up for following your story!
