New Horror Book Releases: Aug 18/26
Another bumper crop of creepy reads
Tuesdays are fast becoming my favorite day of the week now that I am paying attention to all the new horror book releases. That said, it is proving to be stressful on my Amazon shopping cart, which is currently bursting at the seams. Enough of my issues, let’s get to the new books:
And the Sea Gave Up the Dead by William Friend
A young woman returns to a crumbling chateau on the French coast and becomes entwined in family history. The home is held together by grief and secrets, the latter of which is about to be uncovered.
Never Whistle at Night Part II Anthology
This is the second collection of indigenous horror short stories, and given how good the first one was, we can only hope that this is just the next in a long series of anthologies.
The Calamities by Chuck Wendig
A young man knows that his future is already set in stone, as he will take over the legacy of an extremely powerful family in a world where demons exist. When he meets a new friend, he suddenly feels like there might be a way out.
The Devil’s Pocketbook by Ross Jeffrey
A couple grieving the loss of their daughter find a pod in the sea containing something they should have left behind. Instead, they take it home, which is when the real horror begins.
Ghosts of Chanterlands by Catherine Cavendish
In 1940, a girl is evacuated and forced to live with her aunts in a home that is filled with something more. A young spirit haunts the halls, while the attic is also a dark, mysterious space.
The Halls of the Dead by S.M. Hallow
Set in London during the 1840s, necromancy is commonplace, with life returned via incantations from books bound in human flesh. This is the type of magic, though, that comes with a cost.
The House That Eats the Dead by Max Doty
A fresh start in a new home sounds like the exact thing a young family needs. From the start, though, it becomes clear that something is off in the house, which is a hungry thing looking for sustenance.

In Vacuo by Andrea Morstabilini
A young boy arrives with his pregnant mother at the estate of a renowned doctor. When his mother suddenly passes, the boy is forced to face his grief and the mystery surrounding the doctor.
Lights! Camera! Frendo! by Adam Cesare
It’s time for the next installment in the Clown in a Cornfield series. This is the 4th book in the series, so be aware of that before you jump in to nab this one.
Marla lives with her mother in a gothic old home and is the subject of all kinds of rumors. Some believe her a witch, while others think she is a prisoner. Which one is it?
The Minimalist by Kailee Pederson
Set in the world of classical music, a woman inherits a piece of music from a famous composer. The piece needs to be finished, and it soon becomes an obsession.
The Sleeping Sisters by Jennifer Givhan
A mother moves her family in hopes of removing a family curse, while also fleeing the place where women have gone missing, courtesy of a killer called The Reaper. Is he really gone, though.
Every week, there is always at least one book that needs to become part of my collection. Described as a cross between From Dusk Till Dawn and The Thing, Tapeworm is that book.
These Walls Remember by Del Sandeen
Sothern gothic horror fans are probably going to love this story of a pair of sisters who inherit a house that is haunted by the ghosts of the past.

It’s another bumper crop this week, so I hope you all find something that you like. Please be aware that these are all affiliate links and I do earn a small commission from every purchase.
