Tuesday is quickly becoming my favorite day of the week, but my wallet is not quite enjoying it as much. As always, there is a solid slate of new horror book releases to check out this week, so let’s dive right into them.
What we have here is a collection of horror crime stories, all with the theme of revenge baked into the plot. There are some well-known names in this one, and while it may not be true horror, this is going to be great for those who love those true crime documentaries on Netflix.
Blood Rising by Markus Redmond
A quick word of warning before you rush out to nab this one. Blood Rising in Book 2 of the Blood Saga Series. If you want to start from the beginning, then you should grab Blood Slaves first. Historical vampire tales are always fun.
The Bone Flower by Charles Lambert
A nice little slice of love story served with a side of Victorian gothic. We have a seance that leads to a forbidden love and the class of the haves versus the have nots. Sounds like a fun one, and a really beautiful cover, too.
The Burn Line by Jonathan Sims
Five people trapped in a subway car in the London Underground witness something horrible that changes their lives forever. The worst part is that they cannot remember what it was they witnessed. This might be my pick of the week, based on the blurb alone.
The Devil Knows Her Name by CN Vair
100 years ago, a witch sold her soul in order to save her life, but now she has to fight for her very existence when the Devil comes to collect his prize. I love a debut horror novel, so this one might well land in my cart.
The I Scream Truck by IM Eerie
If you yearn for the days of Goosebumps and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, then maybe you might have found a new author to obsess over. This one is listed as Middle Grade Horror, so it might be a good way to introduce your kids to the genre.
Last Day of a Prior Life by Andres Barba
Listed as a ghost story without a ghost makes this one interesting enough, but the details are creepier still. A woman preparing a house for sale comes across a young boy who does not blink. As he disappears and reappears, she understands that he wants something from her.
Another book with a cover that really catches the eye. After losing his teaching job, John Bare joins a support group where he wants to tell the story of how he survived an attack by a psycho killer. Now working in a factory, he is convinced that one of his co-workers is the killer.
The Night Pool by Lauren Lee Smith
I love a story with a strong female lead, and this one has 3 of them. Set in the Old West, the women witness something horrible, after which the bodies start piling up. They need to get find out what is going on and confront something truly evil.
The Sunken, The Adored by Donyae Coles
A newly freed slave heads to 1800s Venice, only to discover that something may have followed her there and is now lurking in the canals. A Lovecraftian horror story that sounds filled with dread.
Tracking Death by Nikki R. Leigh
Another book that falls into the Goosebumps category, with this one falling in the Killer VHS Series. This should be a fun, quick read for kids and adults alike.
Dive deep into the American territory of the Old West and read about a young woman chasing down her father, who was abducted by a supernatural creature. This is another one that might well be making its way into my cart.
A grieving mother moves to a house surrounded by ancient woods as she looks for solitude and a place to grieve. Years prior, a woman murdered her family in that very property. Perhaps the sale price is too good to be true.
