Notes from Inside the Haunted House
Newsletter for Feb 25, 2026
It has been a couple of weeks since I last put together a newsletter, mostly because I felt I was forcing things to make it a weekly entity. From this point forward, I think I will just put one together whenever I have a few things that I want to share or think you guys will find moderately interesting. I should start by saying that this one might feel quite sales pitchy, which was never the goal of this newsletter. Still, sometimes there are things I need to share, so let’s get to it.
An Amazing Gift
I recently did a live chat with Fiona Bridges and Becky Hayward, which ended up being a ton of fun. If you watched, you probably noticed how twitchy I get. It is pure anxiety bubbling just under the surface, so I am always picking at myself, which I am sure is distracting. Anyway, during said live, I received a notification that I had received a ridiculously generous donation to help me purchase a typewriter that I wanted. I’m not sure if naming the donor would be something they want, so I will just say that I am now in possession of this beauty.
Macabre Mail
Okay, so now we get to the salesy portion of the proceedings, so please feel free to skip if this does not interest you. I am starting a new product called Macabre Mail, which will be a physical product that goes to anyone who upgrades to an annual subscription to my stack. It will also go into my Buy Me A Coffee Store. There will be 2 levels, which are:
Level 1 - A postcard with a drabble on the back, all wrapped up in a personal letter. I will likely sign the drabble and stamp it with the MM logo. Same with the letter.
Level 2 - This will be delivered on cooler stationary with a gothic touch. The drabble will contain a personal touch and will be one of a kind, as in not posted anywhere else. There will be a personal, handwritten note included, as well as a sticker that goes with the story. Again, one of a kind.

I am still debating pricing, but I am thinking $4 for Level 1 and $6 for Level 2. Not a ton of profit, but this is more of a passion project than a money maker. In fact, you could probably say that for everything I do. People who upgrade to annual will get both Levels as part of their subscription. Think of it as a welcome gift.
Upcoming EBooks
With the end of the month coming up, I will be putting together all my flash pieces from February into a single volume. Paid subs will automatically get this for free, while it will go into my store for everyone else. The next drabbles collection will be put together as soon as I write 100. I was going to make this a monthly collection, but I am just going to do it every time I finish 100. Again, paid subs will automatically get this as a PDF.

What Else Is Going On?
Honestly, it is pretty much all writing all the time for me. My wife has barely been at home this year due to work commitments, so I am burying myself in words in an effort to stop myself from going crazy. At the time of writing, I am sitting at 881 subs, with the goal of hitting 1K by the end of June. If you know someone who might like my horror nonsense, please do send them my way.
One Final Thing Regarding Free Upgrades
I have mentioned this several times, but I think it gets missed. Anyone who subscribes to my stack gets an automatic 30-day paid upgrade for free. Once that period is over, there is no requirement to buy anything. Simply let it lapse and go back to being a free sub. I simply want everyone to be able to get a look at everything I do for a month. If that means they upgrade, then great, but if not, that’s great, too.
I think that’s all I have for this newsletter. I’ll catch you all next time.
