Really enjoying this so far. Love the building dread you've captured.

I read this outside and I was so deep into the story that my neighbor patiently stood at my gate talking to my dog for a couple of minutes before I even registered she was there. Great stuff, and I love the folkloric creature aspect. Feels fresh!

The imagery in this chapter is staggering, but the line that truly haunted me was: “Drake glared at the child and shuddered as he saw his reflection turned upside down in her dead black eyes.” There is something so deeply unsettling about that upside down reflection—it’s a perfect Gothic metaphor for a world that has lost its equilibrium. It makes the horror feel intimate and personal rather than just tactical. You’ve captured a visceral sense of dread here. Beautifully dark work!🖤

Trying to get my head around the baby transforming into a monster because the feeding got interrupted.

I don't evny the cops who are going to respond to this situation. A diner full of tranquilized witnesses, a dead waitress, and a missing fetus. My head is reeling.

LOL. It calms down for a minute after this chapter.

Absolutely gripping from start to finish! The slow build-up of tension in the hospital lot leading to the chaotic diner showdown had me holding my breath. Wow this is brilliant story telling 🔥
