That exchange between Raven and Salem was the highlight of the chapter for me.
Raven wanting to go on the offensive makes perfect sense after everything she’s endured, but Salem refusing to let power turn her into something worse was such a strong character moment.
“Who doesn’t want to use their powers to rule and conquer?”
“People who are good.”
“You know me.”
That whole sequence says more about who Salem is than any display of power ever could.
Also loved the contrast between Thorn seeing their blood as a weapon he can use, while Salem still sees her future as something ordinary and worth protecting.
