The Paranormal Digest for March 7, 2026
Ghostly nuns, sleep demons, and more
The Paranormal Digest for March 7, 2026
As we head into March, I am thinking of making some changes to the weekly digest. One option might be to scan for recent paranormal and supernatural happenings to report on each week. On week’s that are quiet, I could use some of the usual stuff I look at here. I will likely put together a poll to see what you guys like and what other stuff you’d like to see, but in the meantime, please do comment and let me know if there are some new things you’d like to see added. For now, let’s get to the spooky stuff for this week, which includes a NotebookLM video recap at the end.
Haunted Location - Borley Rectory
One thing that always tickles me when I look at locations is that they are always tagged as “The Most Haunted Place in…” Surely, there can only be one most haunted, although this Victorian home in Essex, England might well be able to stake a claim for that tag. The most famous of the spirits said to haunt the rectory is that of a nun who was believed to have had an illicit affair with a monk back in the day. She was allegedly put to death inside the walls of the property and is now seen roaming the property. Haunting a tourist spot is a nasty habit (#dadjokes).
Urban Legend - The Nale Ba
We head to India for this week’s urban legend, which is a rather unpleasant female spirit that likes to go door to door in search of people to take. She usually shows up after midnight and goes knocking on doors. When someone answers, she either takes them and they disappear forever, or they die withing 24 hours of the interaction. I don’t know about you guys, but I don’t even open the door at noon, never mind midnight.
Creepy Cryptid - The Alp
My wife has had issues with sleep paralysis, particularly in her younger years, and the whole thing terrifies me. In Germany, there is a sleep demon called the Alp that loves to come and sit on the chest of people who are asleep, causing them to have nightmares that are difficult to wake up from. The creature is often invisible, but when it does appear, it is described as having an elflike appearance, although it can also shift into different animals. All this time, I thought it was my cat sitting on my chest.
Video of the Week - The Nightmare
There is a fantastic documentary about sleep paralysis, and specifically the Hat Man, called The Nightmare that I am sure is streaming somewhere. For now, if you are interested in learning more about sleep paralysis, this video by Adam Gray should give you more than enough info.
Free Horror Book of the Week - Black Ichor Village
I do enjoy small town horror and creature features, so the idea of story about a black sludge that terrorizes the locals is very appealing to me. With that in mind, the book of the week is Black Ichor Village by Kieran Clemens. This one is free today, but it is also on KU if you miss the freebie.
Deadly Drabble - Holler
I am wide awake and screaming, yet they all look at me as though I am dead. Yes, my eyes are glazed, body withered, and the scream is inside my head. How can they not see my anguish?
Once again, I hear the doctors talk about me being “brain dead,” which turns to talk of the machines being unplugged. I don’t think those machines are keeping me alive, I believe they are keeping me quiet.
Maybe if they do unhook me, one of those screams will get out. Perhaps then they will see that I am alive inside this cocoon.
Random Weirdness - Mannequin Graveyard
If you are looking for a cool tourist spot on your next trip to England, might I suggest Mannakin Hall in Lincolnshire. The location is a former RAF base that is now home to over 15,000 creepy mannequins, all of which were rescued from a landfill, for a reason that totally escapes me. You really need to find images of this place, as it is the sort of nightmare fuel that is usually delivered by the Alp.
Thank you all again for taking time to read the digest. I might start adding some new stuff next week to shake things up a little. Until then, have a great week. Here is a wee video recap that could use some love on my YT channel.

I’d not heard of some of these. Down the rabbit hole I go!
