3 Deadly Drabbles - Hard Water
Water is not always as peaceful as it appears
The River
It took three deaths for life to begin. Yes, the river was filled with life, but the water itself rushed mindlessly along, racing blindly to the sea on an endless loop.
The first drowning was a tragedy, the second a mistake. The third was a murder, where blood was spilled and breath was stolen. The choking cries for mercy caught the attention of the rushing water.
Now, it slows the pace, promising a safe crossing where there is none to be had. The water is hungry, craving death by drowning as it looks to evolve. Nothing’s calm below the surface.
Hard Rain
Micah groaned as the pounding rain slipped inside the collar of his short, rushing down his back like a snake chasing a rat. The feeling brought a giggle to his lips, but he choked it back when the water stopped midway into its journey.
The cold rain suddenly felt warmer, the drop that made its way inside beginning to boil. Micah screamed and tore at his clothing as the raindrop penetrated his skin like acid.
The rain grew heavier, pelting him with steaming drops of liquid fire that melted cotton blends and fused them to flesh. Nature took Micha quickly.
Bath Time
Ellen stepped into the bathroom, paperback in hand, and shut of the water. Steam rose lazily from the tub, the bath bomb painting the water a delightful shade of pink, while also emitting a flowery scent that made Ellen smile.
She slipped out of her robe and into the water, which sat at the perfect temperature. Letting out a contented moan, Ellen flipped open her book and began to read.
Had she been in the room when the water first began to fully flow, she might have noticed the black worms arriving with the rush. She certainly noticed them now.

I love that last one. All up to the imagination and so out of nowhere. I was waiting with dread and you delivered. Haha!
"Bath Time"... 😱!!
