The Paranormal Digest for March 14, 2026
Castle ghosts, cat lizards, and so much more
Last week, I talked about potentially mixing things up with the Paranormal Digest. At the moment, I am leaning toward doing a schlocky paranormal newspaper highlighting all the weird stories from the previous week. I have a few websites lined up that deliver that stuff, as well as some sub-Reddit’s that could be fun. I think things will stay as is for another month or so until I come up with a full plan. With that said, let’s get to this week’s spooky stuff.
Haunted Location - Glamis Castle
This week, we are heading back to my native Scotland for yet another haunted castle. This time, we are off to Angus and Glamis Castle, which is home to several different spirits. The Lady in Grey, who is thought to be Janet Douglas, is the most famous, but it is the Tongueless Lady that legitimately creeps me out. She is described as a grief-stricken spirit that has blood streaming from a severely damaged mouth. I think I might prefer a wailing ghost, as having this nightmare creature creep up on me might be more than my old heart could take.
Urban Legend - The Phi Tai Hong
There is a belief that some spirits are born from the negative energy created via violent circumstances. If that is the case, then the Phi Tai Hong certain fit that bill. In Thai culture “Tai Hong” essentially translates to “to die an unnatural or cruel death.” This creates vengeful spirits roaming the countryside seeking payback for their untimely death. These types of spirits seem to be common in this part of the world, and they make the tongueless lady seem somehow lovely.
Creepy Cryptid - The Tatzelwurm
Our next stop takes us to the Alpine region of Europe, where you will allegedly come across a rather odd sounding monster. If you came looking for a Yeti, you are going to be disappointed, as the Tatzelwurm is commonly described as a serpent creature with the face of a cat. Other claims about this cryptid are that it has a poisonous breath or bite. If you see this thing out in the wild, I would suggest you avoid the good old psst, psst, psst kitty call.
Video of the Week - Caspersight
I have, in the past, used Caspersight videos in my digests, but I do so for very good reason. If you like some comedy sprinkled across your spooky, then this is the channel for you. He has a bunch of catchphrases that my wife and I have turned into a game where we wager on which he will use first.
Free Book of the Week - Nightwalk by D. Nathan Hilliard
If you thought the HOA was the worst thing about living in a nice neighborhood, think again. In Nightwalk by D. Nathan Hilliard, the pits of Hell have become exposed in the idyllic streets of Coventry Woods. Will the residents make it out alive?
Deadly Drabble - Apnea
I remember hearing a phrase about sleep being little more than a small exercise in death. For me, it now seems appropriate given that my heart stop beating several times each night.
Death was never on my list of fears, but that has changed. I have seen things in those moments of passing that make me want to cling to life and fight for survival.
There is no Heaven, no Hell, just some space filled with creatures hiding in the void, reaching out to absorb our good memories. They do so until we are fear-filled husks floating in a vacuum.
Random Weirdness - Crisis Apparitions
I have heard of people seeing loved ones appear from out of nowhere, only to soon find out that the person they saw just died. What I did not know is that there is a name for such an experience. Crisis apparitions are the name given to these “ghosts” that are not ghosts per se, but rather visitors of the soon to pass coming to say goodbye. I’m not sure if this is comforting or terrifying.
That is it for the weekly paranormal digest, and I do hope you found something new, cool, and/or interesting contained within.

When I worked in healthcare many years ago, it was commonly known amongst the workers that residents about to pass would often be visited by spectral loved ones. Sort of the flip side to what you talk about. Creepy both ways!
Another awesome newsletter! Yeah the to tongueless lady sounds terrifying! Those crisis apparitions are so spooky! I don't know if you've ever listened to Jim Harold's Campfire podcast (you'd love it), but it's all listeners calling in with different kinds of paranormal stories and those crisis apparitions pop up every now and then. It's wild!
