The Paranormal Digest for Nov 22, 2025
The Bell Witch, Black-Eyed Kids, and more
It’s Saturday, which means that it’s time for another round of paranormal weirdness. I am, as always, taking a look at some places and phenomena that tend to leave us with more questions than answers. For me, though, that is part of the fun, as it allows us all to head down mysterious rabbit holes after being teased with a little bit of information. Rabbit holes are actually one of the things being discussed this week, but let’s take a look at them all now.
Haunted Location - The Bell Witch Cave
As far as haunted destinations go, The Bell Witch Cave in Adams, Tennessee is high on the list. The Bell family made their way to the area in 1804 and began to experience strange phenomena in 1817. Voices, weird noise, and even physical harm was inflicted upon the family. The father and daughter both died in mysterious circumstances, with the witch, who was believed to be a neighbor of the family deemed responsible. Nowadays, visitors report seeing mist emerge from the cave, as well as voices and apparitions.
Urban Legend - Black-Eyed Children
While some urban legends date back centuries, the black-eyed children are a relatively new story. It all began with a journalist named Brian Bethel who claimed to see a pair of creepy kids outside a theater in Abilene, Texas. The story quickly spread across the United States, with people reportedly seeing these black-eyed kids, all of whom are usually in the 6-16 age range, outside their homes looking to gain entry. Their arrival usually brings with it feelings of existential dread for the people seeing the kids.
Video of the Week - The Internet Rabbit Hole Iceberg
I spend a lot of time researching creepy and weird things to share in the digest. This tends to take me down rabbit holes that are endlessly interesting. Most of you are probably well aware that there are levels to the weirdness, which gets darker the deeper you go. That is the basis of the Internet Rabbit Hole Iceberg. Check the bottom dwellers out at your own peril.
Book of the Week - Haint by Samuel Brower
At the end of the digest, I will be delivering a piece of random weirdness, but this book might just give you a clue as to where I am headed. The tagline, “BLOOD RUNS DEEP IN THE HOLLER—AND SOMETHING HUNGRY WAITS IN THE DARK.” is a beauty, and the reviews are mainly positive. I’m going to be nabbing this one.
Creepy Cryptid - The Flatwoods Monster
It came from outer space!! Many creatures and legends seem to be rooted in local lore, but that is not the case with The Flatwoods Monster. Back in 1952, a group of kids, along with their mother, tracked a light in the sky that crashed into a neighboring field. Arriving on the scene, they witnessed a being that was over 10-feet tall with a head in the shape of an ace, glowing eyes, long clawed hands, and a metallic body. Skeptics believe that the kids followed a comet, and that the creature they saw was nothing more than an owl perched on a branch. What do you guys believe?
Random Weirdness - The Rules of Appalachia
There are few places in the world deemed as strange and creepy as Appalachia, and the locals seem to buy into all of it. In fact, they are so serious about the strange happenings in the area that a set of rules have been established. These include things like not whistling after dark, not answering if you hear your name being called, and not leaving a window open at night. The whole region is a cultural melting pot, so it makes sense that a lot of traditions and lore would be spread out across Appalachia.
That is all I have for you guys this week, but fear not, I shall return next Saturday with more tales of the Paranormal and weird. As always, if there is something you would like to see me talk about, please comment and let me know.

They definitely deserve a deeper dive.
I just did a bit of research about ghouls for a story. Ghouls are supposed to be totally black eyed as well, i.e. the sclera of their eyes is black. Maybe these black-eyed kids are ghoul children looking for their parents.
